Galaxies 31DC2013 Mani

 photo me_zps76cb00ed.png

Alright I am not to excited about my galaxy nails today, but I am happy it's almost Friday! I have my attempt below of a pastel galaxy accent nails.

Zoya: Darcy, Kristen, Kendal, and Neely
Orly: Crisp White
Northern Lights

I think I don't have enough colors sponged onto the galaxy nails so it looks very plain. I also not happy that my sparkle top coat, Northern Lights, had some shrinkage problems.

31 DC, Day 8: Duochrome, Flakie, or Holo

Horah it is already Wednesday, two weeks left for this work week :) Hopefully you didn't wake up to more snow than when you fell asleep like I did.  For today's challenge post I choose to do a duo-chrome and holo!

Sinful Colors: Black on Black
Ozotic: 505
Northern Lights

I added the Northern Lights to give it some holo sparkle. I won this Ozotic polish from Llarowe and finally have swatched it. Duo-chromes are hard to photograph since you have to catch the color shift. Adding the holo sparkles really made me think of Enchanted  Polish: Across the Universe. To see the comparison check my swatch of that here. Let's see what the others choose for their Day 8 mani below.

Blue Pastel Skittle Mani

Today I have attempted a nail art skittle mani. I really love skittle mani's since you can incorporate more than one nail art and somehow it looks matchy. My sister is a huge fan of this type of mani she has so many pins on pinterest of skittle mani's. I decided to give it a try and this is what I came up with.
The colors I used are Lime Crime: Milky Ways, Sally Hansen: Silver Sweep, Zoya: Kristen and Electra, Northern Lights and also some Silver Glequins

I am unsure if it all goes together or if this is a skittle fail. I do really like the color combinations and I love each type of nail art. Do you think this is a good collaboration or not?

Alternating Gradients

Fun mani today! I wanted to change up my 'normal' gradients that you see and got inspired by some other blogs to do an alternating pattern. I also used different colors instead of normally staying in the same color group. This is one of my favorite color combos.
Colors I used to gradient with are Color Club: Take me to Your Chateau and Orly: Plum Noir. Top coat was Northern Lights to add some sparkle!
This turned out WAY above my expectations. I LOVE this mani soooo much, I am defiantly going to think of more design to do with these two colors together :)
What are your favorite color combos?

Neon Stars!

I am really excited about this post, I ordered some items from Born Pretty Store and they have arrived! Pictured below is the black stripping tape, dotting tools, and stamping plate CK- 04
The colors I used are as followed: Pink nail is China Glaze: Pool Party with Color Club: Wing Fling. Orange nail is China Glaze: Orange Knockout with Color Club: Sparkle and Soar. Yellow nail is Nina Ultra Pro: Solar Flare with Color Club: Daisy Does It. Green nail is China Glaze: I'm With the Life Guard and Color Club: Fly With Me. Blue nail is Studio M: Total Wow and Color Club: Sky High. To add more sparkle I top coated with Northern Lights.
Now for the design aspect I used the black stripping tape I bought from bornprettystore. I have used taped before with my past designs so when I tried this kind out it wasn't to difficult to use. It stuck to my nails very well so the polish didn't seep under, the only thing I wish this tape came with was a dispenser of some sort to make it easier to cut the pieces.
I taped off the star than using Sinful Colors: Black on Black I went over the entire nail. To remove the tape I found it helpful to use tweezers. Top coat of Out the Door to finish my mani off :) I can't wait to come up with more designs using this stripping tape, I have a feeling I will go thru it in no time!!
Hope you love this one as much as me!

Swirl Marble Attempt

Wow did I have a busy weekend, defiantly can tell summer is here. Had my college graduation, my sister and cousin High School Graduation, plus my cousin had her baby! So to get back at doing my nails I tried a new marble design.
Used all China Glazes for this one, starting with the base coat White on White, than for marble colors I used the White on White, Recycle, and Mediterranean Charm. Top coat of Northern Lights.
This was a fun design for marbling, its hard to make the swirls turn out close to the same was my only problem. Which I guess gives it a interesting touch but I may be a little OCD on my nails...
Do you like to have your water marbles match or have different designs?

Full Water Marble Mani

Well I have finally completed a full Water Marble Mani. For my first time doing one I only did an accent finger. This time around it was easier since I bought OPI colors which we like heaven to work with.
Base coat was Wet n Wild: French White Creme. I used OPI: La Paz-itively Hot, Pamplona Purple and Zoya: Kendal for the water marble. Top coat of Northern Lights to add some sparkle.
I am a huge fan of this one, instead of tapping them off like last time I used Petroleum Jelly around the nail. I found that it was harder than the tape.
Which method do you prefer to use for doing your water marble mani's?

Blue Patchwork

I have been looking for a light blue that only takes one coat to cover, and I am proud to say I have found one! Another Studio M polish, sorry for the continuous brand use but for 2.99 a bottle I'm sold.
Start off with the Studio M: Whose That Girl, than I choose certain patches to tape off to paint my second color with Sally Girl Mini's: White, and my last color was Revlon Colorstay: Blue Slate. For my top coat I chose to add some sparkle and used Northern Lights a Hologram Top Coat.
This is another style to do patchwork in, instead of four squares, I love these colors together, a gradient would be neat with maybe another blue in between.
How do you feel about it?
